The FR series Electric Fuel Pump is designed to deliver fuel at a specified flow rate and pressure. It has been manufactured under the most exacting quality control procedures and has been designed to meet the most advanced state of today's electric fuel pump technology.
How To Select the Correct Walbro FR-Series Fuel Pump
If you're replacing an existing Walbro fuel pump, wipe the grime off of the part number on the existing pump and look for that number under the "Replaces" column. The pump listed in the "Pump" column is a direct replacement.
If you're putting a fuel pump where there's never been one before, use the table below as follows:
Narrow the selection to the correct voltage, 12vdc or 24vdc
Identify the appropriate pressure range
Ensure that the pump you select has sufficient flow
Other factors to take into consideration when selecting fuel pumps:
FRB and FRC pumps have replaceable internal filters--good when fuel quality is questionable
FRA and FRC pumps run continuously when power is applied. They are suited to internal combustion applications, not continuous operation applications such as heater or stove systems. FRB and FRD pumps run only when fuel flow is required, and are suited to IC engine or stove/heater applications.
All FR Series pumps are rated to 96 hours of salt spray. Pumps denoted with an asterisk (*) in the list below are rated to 1,000 hours of salt spray and are especially well suited to marine applications.
FRA pumps have good durability at >5,000 hours continuous use. FRC and FRD pumps have better durability at >10,000 hours continuous use. FRB Pumps have the best durability at >18,000 hours continuous use.

Typical Applications for Walbro FR-Series Fuel Pumps
Carbureted Applications (FRA, FRB, & FRC Pumps)
The FR fuel pump self-regulates to a predetermined pressure when the carburetor is full, and responds to float movement in the carburetor as required.
When the engine demands more fuel, the pump increases its flow rate
When the engine demand drops, the pump reduces its flow rate
When installed and operating properly you should be able to hear the FR fuel pump cycling as the coil is turned on and off automatically by the electrical circuit contained within the pump.
The electric fuel pump wil not perform satisfactorily if used on a vehicle with a vapor return line.
The FR pump will deliver fuel to the diesel injection pump, assuring a positive pressure at the pump inlet. The FR pump is designed to refill diesel filters after service or replacement.
Transfer Pump and Fuel Polishing Applications (FRA, FRB, & FRC Pumps)
The FR pump will run continuously as long as there is electrical power suplied to the pump. Read our great introduction to Fuel Polishing Systems!
Heater or Stove Applications (FRD Pumps)
FRD Pumps will slow their cycling rate to deliver only the fuel required by the stove carburetor. FRD Pumps can also fill day tanks for units without carburetors.
